Maison Soleil

Welcome to Maison Soleil - a traditional French farmhouse!

Set in lovely countryside and is close to all the attractions of the Dordogne. Located less than half an hour from St Emilion or Bergerac in the Roman village of Montcaret, you are in the centre of the wine regions of Bordeaux. Very comfortable and well equipped, here you will find the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great holiday.

Bathrooms: Ground floor: Bathroom with shower, wc.
First floor: Bathroom with shower, wc.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher. Also coffee machine, fruit blender and toaster.
Utility Room: Ironing Board, iron, clothes dryer, hoover.
Living Rooms: Open plan beamed dining room with large farmhouse table, comfortable lounge area with easy chairs and wood-burning stove. Separate TV/Games room with Sky Satellite TV (20+ English stations), DVD, VCR, Stereo player.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen and towels included and changed weekly. Price includes normal use of electricity and gas. (for May to September rentals) An additional heating and utility charge is applicable for rentals during October to April.

Notes on accommodation
Electric heating throughout and a very effective log buring stove make the house suitable for all year round use. On the 1st floor, there are mobile air conditioning units to keep you cool in the heat of summer. Maison Soleil is on a quiet country lane and has an enclosed garden making it very suitable for children.

Changeover day
: Normally Wednesday but flexible to suit your needs and to take advantage of cheaper flights. Arrival time normally from 2 pm and departure by 10am (this is variable by arrangement).

Please note: The 1st floor has low beams on the landing (1.5m high) so you will need to duck!!

Outside
The garden is secluded and overlooks theadjacent vineyards. There is a BBQ, patio area, sun-loungers, full size outdoor table tennis table and a large barn for children to play in. Garden chairs and tables for up to 10 people. Also plenty of things to occupy the children - Badminton nets, 4 bicycles, darts, boules and croquet. There is also a 15ft circular x 3 ft deep above ground pool for everyone to keep cool in.



 

Coast/Beach
The Lac du Gurson is a managed lake with a sandy beach, restaurant and picnic area and is just 15 minutes away. The Atlantic Coast is half an hour west of Bordeaux where you will find many stunning beaches around Arcachon. About 90mins drive making the coast an excellent destination for a day trip.

Golf
If you're looking for a golfing holiday, the Chateau des Vigiers is the premiere location for golf, beauty treatment and fine food in the area, located south of Ste Foy La Grande in the village of Monestier.

Travel

There is a choice of cheap flights from many UK airports including Manchester, Liverpool, Stansted, Bristol, Birmingham, Southampton, Exeter and Norwich. Maison Soleil is only 40 minutes from Bergerac Airport or 1 hour from Bordeaux. Car hire is recommended. The nearest Channel Port is St Malo 350 miles (5 to 6hrs drive). Caen 7 to 8 hours, Dunkirk or Calais are around 9 hrs with stops.

Distances
Local shops in Montcaret 0.5km. Supermarket 4km. Numerous restaurants 4km - 10km. St Emilion is a short drive of 12km, St Foy La Grande also 12km, Bergerac 28km and the lovely villages of Beynac and La Roque Gageac are around 70km. The grand architecture and city life of Bordeaux is less than an hour away.

Wine tasting, Chateaux, Medieval Towns and Villages on your doorstep!

There are many places of interest in this part of France including numerous Chateaux, Caves and medieval towns and villages. Castillon La Bataille, Ste Foy La Grande and Bergerac are all 'Bastides' and are well worth a visit. There are weekly markets in all of these towns as well as others within easy driving distance. The famous wine Chateaux of St Emilion are close by and wine tours and tastings can easily be arranged. The rest of the Bordeaux wine area is under an hour away for those into serious wine tasting.

The nearest town, Ste Foy La Grande, lies on the banks of the River Dordogne. There are numerous shops and restaurants for you to explore and an excellent market on Saturday morning that provides lots of opportunities to find a bargain or two and to enjoy a coffee under the arches in the main square.

Near the house there is easy access to quiet roads for cycling, there are tennis courts and a football pitch 200 metres away, swimming, fishing, canoeing on the river Dordogne (2km) or horse riding all within 10 or 15 minutes drive. The beaches along the Atlantic Coast, one within easy reach, all make a great destination for a day trip!
